DISCHARGED!
SO TODAY I GOT DISCHARGED!
Some of you are probably like 'what the hell is he on about' but due to my suicide attempt earlier this year i had to have counselling, at the beginning it was once a week. And for my first 4 sessions i refused to admit what i'd done had actually happened, i wanted to pretend i hadn't done it and return back to normal, but things weren't normal, nowhere near normal.
After informing my school about the situation (this was necessary due to the fact it was the day before the majority of my exams) they assigned me a school counsellor along side the one from the hospital. And this one did fair to well on trying to help me, i think in total i had two sessions with her. Session 1. she didn't even know why i needed the counselling and she treated my like a 10 year old which was very unappreciated. Session 2 she started asking me about 'if you had a magic wand what would you change' and being a double moody teenager i flipped and started saying how magic wasn't real and that saying that wouldn't help, meaning we argued for the rest of the session and ended in me just walking out.
But my Counsellor that really did help change my life and bring me back to normality! Her name was Bridie, and she worked for the Skylark centre ( and yes that does sound like something from the X-men) but she was one of the nicest people who i have ever met. She was so positive and reassuring, but for the majority of my sessions id look at the floor and avoid eye contact and wouldn't really respond to what she said.
After several months of sessions and taking my medication i started to feel more myself and started opening up in my sessions with Bridie and we started making a connection which meant that she was able to help me, she was able to make me realise who i am and what i'm capable, and i really appreaciate what she's done for me. And today was my last session as we both feel that I'm ready to take on the world by myself and that i'll be able to cope with the obstacles that come my way.
Thank you!
If you're suffering from something similar to me, find help because its always out there, and even though it might not seem like its helping at first, in the long term it will make a huge change, and it really does change your perspective on live, i know you'll be able to get through this.
There's always hope, stay strong
