The Past

Over the last week i've been doing a community project as part of my NCS programme, and after collectively suggesting ideas and choosing a favourite we decided to make a documentary about Common mental illnesses in teenagers and young people, these being: anxiety, depression and eating disorders.

And this indirectly forced me to think about my past and what i've experienced.

It's been so hard.

But i'm over the worst of it and to help me get over it i decided to tell my story for the documentary so that other young people know that they aren't alone with what they're through, help is out there, you just need to ask.

So this is me telling you that if you have anxiety don't let it take over your world, because i've had anxiety a very long time and i'm coping with it, i've found ways to help control it, things that relax me and even people that relax me.

I was diagnosed with depression earlier this year and i felt like some kind of lunatic, but thanks to the support i'm receiving from my friends, family and views i'm starting to get over the worst of it, it's going to take me a while but i'm managing to get through this, and if i can do it, you definitely can!

And yes i'm a boy with an eating disorder. My weight was always something i was picked on for, i wasn't obese, i was just a little chubby, and i tried all kinds of stupid things to try and change that and all i did was make it worse. But now i've realised that i shouldn't have to try and fit a certain stereotype, i'm my own person and people should like me for who i am. So don't left your weight stop you from doing anything, because its all in the mind.

I believe in you, so you should believe in yourself too.

Dan out.
